Hackney Wick Community Map - Focus on Environmental Information, 5.30pm, May 13th
Work is continuing on the Hackney Wick Community Map. In addition to carrying out research on the area’s social history, we're looking at environmental information and your input is important.
The map could include a catalogue of environmental goods and services that are important in the area, or a prioritisation of environmental issues and concerns that those in the community would like to take action on. It could also include access to information on local environmental quality, such as noise or air pollution. Such layers, created by and with local people, could be enormously useful into the future to track environmental quality and issues as the area continues to change.
To develop the environmental portion of the map, London 21 is hosting a short informal discussion on Tuesday May 13th at 5:30 at Hackney Wick Community Centre. This will involve a quick introduction to environmental information already available for the local area (prepared by London 21 and Muki Haklay of UCL), followed by a discussion of what environmental information you would like on your map. Your input will be very important for shaping the environmental sections of the Hackney Wick Community Map!
